What we use, and why

• Session cookies — keep you signed in as you move between pages. Without these the platform cannot work at all. They expire when your session ends or you sign out.
• Security cookies — protect against request forgery and detect sign-ins from a new device, so your account cannot be used by someone else.
• Preference storage — remembers small choices such as the tab you were last on or a draft you had not submitted, so a refresh does not lose your work. This is kept in your own browser and never leaves it.

We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share browsing data with advertising networks.

Server logs

Like any website, our servers record the IP address, browser type and time of requests. This is used to keep the service secure and to diagnose faults. Where you open a shared link such as a digital visiting card, we record that it was opened, the time, the IP address and the approximate city it maps to, so the person who shared it knows it arrived. An IP address indicates a city at best, and on a mobile network it often points at the operator's gateway rather than where you are.

Controlling cookies

Every browser lets you see, block and delete cookies through its settings. Blocking the session and security cookies will stop you being able to sign in — there is no way around that, because they are how the platform knows who you are.
